“Hello Madeleine I would love to talk to you about designing/making my engagement ring. And after reading that you love a good story, here goes! I have recently returned from Vietnam engaged, and have a beautiful ‘temporary’ ring. My temporary ring is a metal washer that my partner Blairy found on the road on an afternoon walk 18 months ago, and he proposed at the time (with the washer) as a little joke. He actually kept that washer, and used an angle grinder to grind it down to a ring, which he carried safely to Vietnam where he proposed! The ring is very special, and is a dulled, textured silver. It holds a lot of sentimental value, and I would ideally like to take on some of its character in my engagement ring. “ The end result replicates the shape and texture of the washer-ring in 18ct white gold, but wider to accommodate a spectacular brilliant cut diamond in a semi-bezel setting. Martine says the unusual texture is the first thing that draws comments.
